BA Festival of Science.
Sophie Beckett give a presentation at the 'Awards for the
Presentation of Heritage Research 2008' event on 11th of September,
which was part of the BA Festival of Science week held at Liverpool
University. Sophie's talk was entitled 'Girl or boy? Poor hygiene or poor diet? A urinary stone from an Anglo-Saxon burial'. You
can read Sophie's research summary
here or view the
PowerPoint
presentation that accompanied the talk.
The full paper on which Sophie's talk was based has recently been
published in Norfolk Archaeology 2008, the journal of the Norfolk
and Norwich Archaeology Society.
Annual General Meeting 29th March, 2008.
The first AGM that was open to all members was a resounding
success with a new committee being voted in
for the coming year.
A new constitution was agreed by the membership and a copy of this
was sent to the Charity Commission. They have suggested that some
minor changes be made to the document in order to avoid ambiguity.
Marion Ogden, our new chairperson, will be communicating with the
Charity Commission in order to produce a document that both parties
are completely happy with.
The Charity Commission also pointed out that the constitution can
only be changed at 'a meeting specially called for the purpose', in
accordance with clause 18 of the original constitution. It seems
sensible to call a SGM to do this immediately prior to the 2009 AGM,
unless the need arises to do it earlier.
The draft minutes of the 2008 AGM are available
here, and you can also
access the
Financial Report and
Income
and Expenditure details, as presented by treasurer Gary Rossin
at the meeting. If anyone has any amendments or additions they would
like made to the minutes, or any feelings concerning the timing of
the SGM to approve the new constitution, please contact the Secretary.
